As a local boy born and bred in Fife I attended Bell Baxter High school, Cupar before I qualified from the Royal Dick Veterinary School in 1998.

After qualifying I worked for 2 years in a mixed practice in Wick. I then did locum work in practices in Wales, Derbyshire and Cumbria that treated farm animals, pets and horses.

In 2003 I decided to return to my home town to set up Eden Veterinary Practice. I am married to Alex who is also a vet. My hobbies are watching the Howe of Fife Rugby team and helping my brother on the farm especially breeding pedigree simmental cattle. Any free time is spent walking our very energetic dog Max.

Max was let out to walk himself by his previous owners. Unfortunately one day he came home with a very badly broken leg. His owners took him in to see my wife Alex who is also a vet. His previous owners would not pay for his treatment but decided to sign him over to Alex who amputated his leg with a view to re-homing him after his stitches were out. But within 2 weeks she had decided to adopt him. Max's hobbies are running very fast and sticking his head down rabbit burrows.

I started work at Eden Veterinary Practice in August 2009 having qualified from the Royal (Dick) Veterinary School in Edinburgh. I grew up in Maidstone, Kent where from a very young age my interest in wildlife began, as a child I would spend all my free time outside either playing sports or watching nature.

That interest has never diminished and really sparked my wish to be a vet. I have kept and bred many species of small birds and rather ironically have been breeding and showing Fife fancy canaries since the age of 14.

My biggest hobby however is falconry, the traditional art of hunting with a bird of prey. Over the last 10 years I have flown a variety of birds including Harris hawks, Peregrines, Sparrowhawks and currently fly a female Goshawk called Ember.

During my time off I will usually be walking some hill or another with Ember and my working cocker Fern enjoying the scottish countryside.

I graduated from the Royal (Dick) Vet School in 2010 and started work shortly afterwards, since I had seen practice at Eden Veterinary Practice I knew it was the type of work I wanted to involved in. I enjoy the variety of the work especially lambings on the farm side. I have always been around horses and I am now pursuing my interest in them proffesionally as well.

Away from work I spend my time training and riding Elise my 6 year old chestnut who I am hoping to start competeing this year. I have also recently given a home to Ozzy who was a pup that I carried out a caesarian section on his mum to get him in to the world.
